Biographical Sketch:
J. Michael Straughn, Jr, MD, is Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is currently the fellowship director for the Gynecologic Oncology program. Dr. Straughn is a graduate of Princeton University in 1991 and received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. His postgraduate training included a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB and a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at UAB. Dr. Straughn's research interests include endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, cost-effectiveness analyses, and chemotherapeutic trials for ovarian cancer. Dr. Straughn is a member of various professional organizations including American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Society of Gynecologic Oncology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology. He is currently the Vice-Chair of the Alabama Section of American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Straughn is the author or co-author of more than 90 peer reviewed publicaions."
